It is very easy to draw filled circles or rectangles in Photoshop. But as soon as it comes to drawing a circle just as an outline Photoshop gets complicated. There are many ways to do it. The pictures will show two ways. One using the marquee tool and “Edit”->”Stroke…” the other using paths that are stroke with the brush tool. Just have a look on the screenshots.
- Select the Marquee tool
- Mark what you want to highlight
- Select "Stroke..." from the menu "Edit"
- Select color, stroke width etc.
- The result! Easy, isn't it?
- Highlighting with paths and the brush tool. Select the ellipse tool
- Select paths
- Draw an ellipse around what you want to highlight
- Select paths in the toolbox "Layers"
- Select the brush tool and choose the brush you want to use
- Select stroke path with brush from the "Path" toolbox
- Done! This was not as easy. But it gives you all the options you have with the brush tool.
The standard settings of Adobe Photoshop prevent that you can undo more than 20 actions. Here comes how you can change this.
Quickest: Go and figure with the screenshot!
Step-by-step: Go to “Edit”->”Preferences”->General… (CTRL+K). There choose “Performance”. Look for the block “History & Cache”. Change the number of “History States”. Photoshop will be able to undo up to 1000 actions.
